The USGA Experience

The USGA Experience highlights the breadth and depth of the work of the United States Golf Association. In the Championships Gallery, visitors will get a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to set up one of the USGA’s 15 national championships, hear directly from players who have competed in and won USGA titles, admire USGA championship trophies and watch a film on “The Spirit of Championship Golf.” In the Science of Golf Gallery, visitors can explore the work of the USGA Green Section and Equipment Standards teams and learn about best practices on pace of play, sustainability and putting green construction, the science behind the club and the ball, and golf course architecture and maintenance. The USGA Experience also is home to a rotating exhibit space which showcases the many artifacts from the USGA Golf Museum and Library collection.

The World Golf Hall of Fame

The World Golf Hall of Fame was established in 1974. The Hall’s current home in Pinehurst, N.C., opened in 2024 and contains nearly 3,000 artifacts housed within lockers celebrating the 170 Hall of Fame Members, as well as interactive media capstones with video highlights, photos, biographies and a list of accomplishments for each Hall of Famer.

A large case contains trophies from all the men’s and women’s major championships, as well as season-long cup events and team competitions. A 115-inch monitor hangs from the ceiling, playing videos on themes of innovation, artistry, fame, triumph and inspiration – qualities embodied by each Hall of Fame Member.

Artifacts on display include Tom Morris Jr.’s Open Championship Challenge belt, Gene Sarazen’s 1935 Masters Tournament champion’s plaque, Ben Hogan’s U.S. Army World War II dog tags, Babe Zaharias’ baseball glove, Arnold Palmer’s 1954 U.S. Amateur irons, Johnny Miller’s 1973 U.S. Open gold medal, Ben Crenshaw’s 1999 Ryder Cup shirt, Tiger Woods’s U.S. Open and Havemeyer trophies and Annika Sorenstam’s 2003 Bank of America Colonial sunglasses.
