2017 Championship	Matt Parziale, a 30-year-old firefighter from Brockton, Mass., registered 10 birdies, including eight in the morning 18, in an 8-and-6 victory over Josh Nichols at Capital City Club's Crabapple Course in Atlanta, Ga. The win also earned Parziale a spot into the 2018 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills, the first Mid-Amateur champion to receive such an exemption. Parziale went on to earn co-low-amateur honors in the U.S. Open. The USGA announced the decision on the eve of the 2017 championship.
